Sikh Ethos

Sikh ethos within our schools

At Sikh Academies Trust, our ethos is deeply rooted in the universal principles of Sikhi,
cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and inspiring environment where everyone – of all faiths
and none – can thrive. Anchored in the core values of Kirat Karna (working with honesty
and integrity), Vand Chakna (sharing selflessly with others), and Naam Japna
(repeating and internalising God’s Name with every breath), we are dedicated to
nurturing a generation of compassionate, confident, and conscientious individuals.

A key feature of our schools is the on-site Gurdwara, which serves as the heart of our
community and spiritual life. Every student has the opportunity to learn and perform
actions according to the Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct) and is encouraged to
actively engage in running the Gurdwara. By experiencing and practising each element
personally, from performing seva (selfless service) to participating in kirtan (singing of
God’s praises), students gain a deeper connection to their faith while developing
leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility. Our unique programme
empowers students to train and mentor one another, fostering growth on mental,
emotional, and spiritual levels.

Our schools proudly celebrate diversity while embracing the universal teachings of Sri
Guru Granth Sahib Ji, inspiring every child – regardless of their faith or background – to
recognise their unique potential and make a meaningful contribution to society. With a
strong focus on academic excellence, spiritual growth, and character development, we
empower our students to lead with integrity, resilience, and a boundless sense of seva.
Through a culture of equality, respect, and love, Sikh Academies Trust is committed to
creating an inspiring space where knowledge and values harmoniously unite to shape a
brighter, more compassionate future for all. Together, we strive to build a community
where every child learns not only to achieve success but also to uplift and inspire
others.

Join us on this transformative journey as we prepare the leaders of tomorrow, firmly
grounded in the enduring wisdom of Sikhi and the universal values that unite humanity
for the greater good of all (Sarbat da Bhalla).
